About This Spot

Stepping into Gustapizza on Via Maggio is like slipping into a lively corner of Florence where the spirit of authentic, casual dining feels immediately warm and unpretentious. The hum of conversation mingles with the gentle crackle of the oven, creating a welcoming buzz that invites you to slow down and savor a genuine local moment. Though the space can fill up quickly, especially during the warmer months, there’s a comforting energy in the wait — a quiet nod to the time-honored tradition of gathering around great food.

The pace here is easy-going but purposeful, with a sense that each pizza is crafted with care rather than rush. Outdoors, you might find yourself sharing a sunny pavement seat, the aroma of fresh dough and rich toppings drifting in the Florentine air. Inside, the simple, rustic setting enhances the focus on the heart of the experience: the pizza itself. It’s that Neapolitan-style crust that draws people in — charred just right at the edges, soft and airy beneath, a perfect canvas for thoughtfully selected toppings that range from earthy mushrooms to lively local sausage or a classic Margherita rich with fresh mozzarella and basil.

There’s an easy camaraderie here, a spot where locals and travelers alike nod over slices and glasses, sometimes sharing tips about the best way to beat the inevitable queue or where to find a cold beer to enjoy alongside. The staff’s warm hospitality extends even to four-legged friends, making Gustapizza feel like a small community hub as much as a place to eat.

Whether for a quick takeaway slice on the go or a relaxed dinner shared with friends, Gustapizza offers a slice of Florence that’s rooted in tradition but full of approachable, authentic joy. It’s not just about the food but the rhythm of the place — the shared moments, the casual conversations, and the simple delight of a truly well-made pizza.

All our pizzas are delicious.. there was a wait about 30 minutes to get in. If you have a large group take turns beating in line while you get a drink across the road :-) I only complaint with the place was that it was extremely hot and there weren’t enough fans in there. Take a foldable or hand fan with you if you go there in the summer.

This was my favorite pizza of all time back in 2010. I’ve had 15 years to taste many others and it still is in my top 3. I got the basic Margarita and the sausage and mushrooms. They were both delicious. I usually hate mushrooms on pizza but they were so fresh and good I ate the majority of my wife’s pizza. Pro tip.. get in the take out line and save a ton of time waiting in line. We took ours back to our ABB and enjoyed it just the same. This place got mega famous and you will wait at least 20-45 minutes in line anytime between opening and 9 pm. Went at 3pm and there was no one in the take out line. Went got our pizzas in under 10 minutes!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review — Gusta Pizza, Florence If you’re looking for one of the best pizza experiences in Florence, Gusta Pizza is the place. We shared a few pizzas with friends and each one was spot-on — from the dough to the toppings. The crust had that perfect Neapolitan style: puffy edges, slightly charred for flavor, soft inside, and super tasty. The pizza with mushrooms, ham and mozzarella was incredibly satisfying — melty cheese, fresh basil, and just the right amount of sauce. And the truffle & arugula pizza? A real star! Rich, fragrant, and beautifully balanced by the fresh greens and creamy toppings on top. Of course, pairing everything with a refreshing Aperol Spritz only made the evening better — Italian vibes at their finest! The atmosphere was lively, friendly and casual — ideal for a fun dinner in the heart of Firenze. Service was quick despite how busy it gets (a good sign that everyone loves the place!). Must-do: Order one pizza each — you won’t want to share once you take the first bite We loved it, we’d go back anytime! A true Florence classic ????????

So good we had it twice this trip! Incredibly fast and sat outside in December both times and throughly enjoyed our meals. Would recommend for a quick and easy bite to eat!

We had an early dinner / late lunch around 5pm so we didn’t need to wait, we’re able to sit immediately. The pizza I can confirm is really good! Staff is super friendly and welcomed warmly our dog too.

Good pizza, not life changing, but it’s still good. Got a margherita - crisp and fragrant skin, fluffy and soft inside, fresh toppings. A great standard of what pizza should be like. We came 5 minutes before opening, got a seat first and ordered rather quickly! I would not want to queue for this.

Usually a line but moves pretty fast. I only waited 10 minutes. The Pizza Marinara is the only Vegan option, if you like it spicy, ask for the Peperoncino Oil!

A good location near to Palazzo Pitti and near the neighborhood of Oltrarno. The food here was great, possibly the best pizza I've had in Florence! I really enjoyed the pesto pizza, the compound taste of the pesto with the burrata cheese was absolutely delicious. Just a quick note, this place is extremely busy. Dining in the building and outside fills up quickly, so you can either get seating across the street outside, or if you'd rather enjoy being closer to the main eatery itself, you will have to wait for a couple of minutes to find seating.
